Welcome to the Triangle

Centrally located in the middle of the state allows area residents to enjoy the mountains or seashore within a three hour drive. The Triangle is formed by three points Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Most people live within a thirty-five mile radius of the Research Triangle Park (RTP). The park was established in the mid-1950's and is home to more than 50 national and international corporations.

Three major universities with outstanding academic reputations (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and North Carolina State University) and the prominence of the RTP in the area attract people and businesses from all over the United States and the world.

Consistently ranked as one of the metropolitan best places to live in the country for quality of life and career opportunities. It also enjoys a good economy and has one of the most favorable climates for new and existing businesses in the nation.

Numerous universities and colleges, good public school systems, quality healthcare, mild climate, and plenty of cultural and recreational resources make living in the Triangle very attractive.

Cities / Towns near the Research Triangle Park

Raleigh is the state capital, home to North Carolina State University, and the second largest city in the state. Being approximately 15 miles from the RTP makes it an ideal place to live. Raleigh is also a diversified city with numerous cultural and entertainment events to suit everyone's particular tastes. Whether it be opera, symphony, ballet, museums, concerts, college sports, professional hockey, football, golf, etc. there is something for everyone.

Cary was voted one of the most desirable places to live by the U.S. News and World Report and most recently won an award as being the second safest city in the United States. Recent census reports make it one of the fastest growing cities in North Carolina and they just crossed the 100,000 residents marker.

Apex is just below Cary and a few miles east of Lake Jordan. Lake Jordan is a popular recreational spot with boating, beaches, and fishing. A small town atmosphere can still be found in Apex as you walk the quaint streets of downtown.

Holly Springs is nestled between Apex and Fuquay Varina and is enjoying a building boom generated by the expansion of the Park.

Morrisville is conveniently located next to Raleigh-International Airport and The RTP. This area is rapidly expanding in both residential housing and commercial building.

Chapel Hill is home to UNC (University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill) and is the nation's oldest and first state supported university. The population swells by almost fifty percent when the student population arrives in the fall. Carrboro, a small town adjacent to Chapel Hill is an arts community.

Durham is known as "The City of Medicine" home to the medical facility Duke University. It is also home to the baseball team Durham Bulls. It is located west of Raleigh and northeast of Chapel Hill.
